Southwest Washington Learning Center has been a member of the Clark County community for nearly 25 years. Opening its doors in April of 1989 to welcome its first children for childcare and preschool, it has since seen many of those same children grow up to return as parents, and even staff. We think that’s the greatest testament any childcare or preschool program could have.
SWLC is a private program, operated by parents just like you whose children attend Clark County schools; and, thanks to childcare benefits, their children attend our daycare program as well … giving our customers the peace of mind that our teachers and caregivers aren’t just employees, they’re parents who share your concern for quality care for your child and theirs. Perhaps the most unique service SWLC offers, is our extremely flexible hours. We are open M-F until 7:30pm. …. Helping more families get back to work with the ability to accept employment and shift opportunities, knowing that their child has a reliable place to receive care.
In this era of downsizing, SWLC is proud to boast that just 5 years ago we constructed and moved into a beautiful, new state of the art building whose features include: individual classrooms, bathrooms in each classroom, to include changing areas for our youngest enrollees, playground entrance from each room, panoramic windows for the children to see nature in all of its seasons, a climbing wall, and playground equipment that encourages active imaginations, security cameras in classrooms and hallways, providing 24/7 monitoring, and full-time front desk staff. All of this, and a program that is second to none. All of our staff are S.T.A.R.S. certified; as well as CPR and First Aid trained. All staff must go through a criminal background check, and be cleared before beginning work. Ongoing education is a cornerstone of the core staff working at SWLC, with many enrolled in CDA programs (Child Development Associate) or ECE (Early Childhood Education) classes through the local colleges. SWLC assists staff interested in furthering their education with their tuition costs, making it possible for more of our staff to increase their education and knowledge while developing their experience as childcare experts. In addition, staff who are in attendance at school, such as night courses, are permitted to leave their children at no charge while they are in class. Another way SWLC encourages our staff to commit themselves to greater education.
SWLC participates in its community through charitable acts and donations; and just this year, we are proud to have been a part of the Clark County St. Vincent DePaul 5K Walk/Run raising money for the poor, with nearly 100% of our staff, and several of our staff children turning out for the walk! Southwest Washington Learning Center isn’t just your local childcare and preschool; we’re your neighbors, and we would love to get to know you better, and learn how we can enrich the lives of your children and your families. We don’t require our friends and neighbors to make an appointment, so please, stop by anytime during business hours and ask for a tour of our center. We think you’ll be glad you did!
